Cut Your Electricity Bills With Solar Designed Around Your Home
Generate more of your own electricity with solar panels and battery storage installed by an experienced local team across West Sussex and Hampshire. GS Solar designs each system around your property, your electricity use and what you want to achieve.
Solar, explained simply
Solar panels turn daylight into electricity you can use in your home. When your panels are generating, that electricity can power appliances and reduce how much electricity you need to buy from the grid. Add battery storage and you can keep some of the electricity generated during the day to use later.
You do not need to know which panels, inverter or battery you need before speaking to us. We assess the property and recommend a system that makes sense for the available space, expected generation and the way you use electricity.

Why are homeowners choosing solar?
- Lower electricity bills - every unit of solar electricity you use yourself is a unit you do not need to buy from your supplier.
- More control over energy costs - generating at home can reduce your exposure to future electricity price changes.
- Use more of your own power - a battery can shift daytime solar generation into the evening.
- Get paid for eligible exports - surplus electricity can potentially be sold back to the grid through an export tariff.
- Lower-carbon electricity - solar generates renewable electricity without burning fuel at your home.
Actual generation, bill savings, export income and payback vary by property, system design, location, electricity use and tariff. GS Solar will provide a property-specific estimate as part of the quotation process.

Think your roof is not suitable? It may be worth checking.
A south-facing, unshaded roof is ideal, but it is not the only option. East- and west-facing roofs can also generate useful electricity. Solar can also be installed on suitable flat roofs, garages and outbuildings, integrated into a roof, or ground-mounted where space and planning considerations allow.

What customers say about GS Solar
Common questions about solar
Do solar panels work on cloudy days?
Yes. Solar PV panels generate electricity from daylight, so they still work when it is cloudy. Output changes with light levels and is generally higher in stronger sunlight.
Do I need a south-facing roof?
No. A south-facing, unshaded roof is ideal for maximum annual generation, but east- and west-facing roofs can also be suitable. Energy Saving Trust says east- or west-facing systems tend to generate around 15-20% less than a directly south-facing equivalent.
Can solar panels go on a flat roof?
Yes, subject to structural and design considerations. Panels are normally mounted at an angle and the system must account for loading, wind and waterproofing.
Can solar panels go on a garage, shed or outbuilding?
Potentially, yes. The structure needs to be suitable and the electrical connection back to the property needs to be considered.
Can solar panels be installed on the ground?
Yes. Ground-mounted solar can be an option where suitable land is available. Orientation, shading, cable routes, planning and visual impact all need to be assessed.
